Around the Cotswolds

How Can I Avoid the Crowds in the Cotswolds?

Yes!

It is possible to see a quieter side of the Cotswolds, even during the busy summer months. The key is to choose when you visit the best-known villages carefully and include some of the smaller villages and country lanes that aren’t on the main coach-tour routes.

Places such as Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury can become extremely busy, particularly in the middle of the day. But you don’t have to avoid the famous places altogether — timing can make a considerable difference.

When is the quietest time to visit?

Yes. Some of my favourite Cotswold villages receive far fewer visitors than places such as Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury.

Rather than giving you a fixed list, I’d say that exploring the smaller villages and the country lanes between them is one of the pleasures of visiting the Cotswolds.

Would you prefer to see the quieter Cotswolds?

My private tours combine the well-known places you want to see with smaller villages, scenic country roads and places away from the main tourist routes.
