Hidden Cotswold Tour April 15th 2025

My guests on a Cotswold Tour on 15th April 2025

I had had a number of email conversations with Kim over the preceding weeks and it was a pleasure to meet her and two of her daughters, Stephanie and Mary Kate outside their Airbnb in Bath.

Our first stop was Lacock Abbey and I let them out to wander around the house and into the spectacular cloisters at the back.
We re-grouped and picked up a coffee/hot chocolate etc. to-go, and we walked around the village.  Stopping to see Harry Potter’s mother’s house and also Professor Slughorn’s House.

It was then back in the car and through some narrow and picturesque lanes (new to me as well!).  We stopped to let Kim out to take some pictures of some very fine-looking horses.
As I could not park in Castle Combe, I left them to wander up the High Street before we re-grouped again and headed off.

Our next stop was Malmesbury and as it was lunch time I suggested the Summer Café for something to eat.
Following lunch we walked into the church yard and looked at a number of gravestones – I pointed out  the grave of Hannah Twynnoy who was killed by a “Tygre” (Tiger)!
Following a walk around the Abbey, we motored on.

We drove slowly through Cirencester only to stop and get a photo of the church from the  car window.
Onwards through the beautiful and rural Coln Valley.
A country walk had been one of Kim’s requests and I had thought a walk from Coln St Aldwyns to Bibury would be perfect.
But, sadly, the timing was too tight to get back to Bath for their swim.  Sadly, I had to call them back after they had started! – I’m really sorry☹️

Our final stop was Bibury.  We were lucky as there was the most perfect parking space just as we arrived.
This gave them time to walk up and down Arlington Row before heading back to Bath.
